busy, busy, busy

Life is busy as usual. My student teacher is finishing off her last week with me, I'm transitioning back into teaching full-time, assessments and report cards need to get down, my husband needs to be nursed back to health, house needs to be cleaned, laundry need to be folded, dishes need to be put away, my butt has to get out and run to get ready for the color run... the list goes on. Does anyone else feel like there aren't enough hours in a day?!

These days, work has been at the top of my priority list and everything else just kind of falls by the wayside. I just don't have the energy to do anything else! I don't mind too much because I love my job! Since the second grade, Ms. Biggins' class, I decided I wanted to be a teacher, just like her, and since then I've never really wanted to do anything else. I'm going on my 7th year of teaching and I can't imagine doing anything else. But, seriously, SPRING BREAK CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH!

Two weeks ago, my little 1st graders dissected squid with our 5th grade reading buddies! I thought we should have the big buddies there to help us but I was pleasantly shocked to see my brave lil buddies helping the big buddies! A poor fifth grader was so grossed out she excused herself to go throw up outside.

Did you know that squid have beaks?! See that little black spot where the arms come together? That's the beak! "How scientific!" as my kids would say...

If there are any teachers (home school, public, or private) reading this, this is a super fun activity that can easily be down with frozen calamari from the grocery store. I have a labeling worksheet I created with a little spot to write with the ink sack, if you want it, shoot me an email!

I have so much non-teaching stuff to update on - 3 weddings, a doctor visit, and other life things that have nothing to do with teaching! I'll get around to it...
