dining room sketch

la mansion_for linda The amazing Melody does a monthly sketch up of her month on her blog. She will hopefully have one up for the month of February so the sketch of our dining room can be included. She was nice enough to send it to me and I'm in love! Would it be weird to print the sketch of my dining area and hang it in my dining area?! I just love it so much!

I'm so lucky to be surrounded by amazingly talented people.  Have you seen her clothespin deer head?! UH-mazing.  Seriously. Uh-mazing.

Thanks for the sketch, Melody!

a very merry christmas

Our Christmas celebration started on Sunday with a quick visit to our grandma's house.  Then, we were off to partake in our yearly tradition - a drive thru Sleepy Hollow and some delish Thrifty's ice cream.

On Christmas day, we all gathered at the La Mansion and enjoyed our time together, opened presents, and hung out until everyone started to fall asleep from some major food coma.

My contribution to dinner was hasselback potatoes, which looked better than it tasted, and lemon meringue pie, which started to weep even before I put it in the fridge! Bah!  I also made a gooey pumpkin cake, and John made a cherry crumble cake. I realized that my family is not big on dessert. There was so much left over!

I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas. We Kim/Park/Carriers sure did! I'm so sad it's over.  I am most definitely keeping up the decorations and tree 'til Valentines Day!

merry nerdy christmas

I am super indecisive about everything. Everything! So when it came to getting a Christmas tree, I couldn't decide if I wanted a traditional green tree, or a funky and fun white tree, or our tiny Charlie Brown tree again.  I even had a little survey going on with my facebook friends! Most people voted for the green tree, and the bff was pushing for a white tree!

I couldn't decide, so I did what any normal person would do when they can't decide... Go onto pinterest and scroll through a gazillion different trees!  As I was scrolling I came across the book tree. The little sis sent me another picture of a book tree, and John was lovin' the idea of bustin' out all his books, so I knew it was meant to be. ;)

John and I put the "tree" together pretty quickly and I wrapped it in pretty lights. It isn't very big, and not very traditional, but I love it. It's very us. We are big time book nerds! Nothing else in my house is decorated and this is the only corner with any fun holiday decorations. But this one little corner is better than nothing, right?

The box set of C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia is not looking to festive... I'm in desperate need of a "tree" topper!  Any ideas?

so much to be thankful for

It has been a rough couple of months, but I know I have so much to be thankful for.  I know I should be thankful everyday because of God's amazing mercy to give me breath every morning, but my sinful cranky heart isn't.

A national holiday was a great way to remind me that I have so much to be thankful for and remind myself that I easily forget about God's daily gifts - my husband, sisters and bros, nieces and nephews, momma, church family, and friends.

My family started the Thanksgiving festivities on Wednesday night with Korean snacks, Korean rice wine, and The Proposal (again)!

Then everyone slept over and we all woke up and had breakfast together. Which included waffles made by the lil sis.

Then the "boys" sat around and watched football...

Snacked all day, then had a way early dinner at 3:00!

It was our first time hosting a family dinner! We had so much fun and John and I are so glad to be living in "la mansion" where we actually have space to hang out! We're also hosting Christmas dinner! Excited!

We really did have fun! My sisters and bro hung out alllll day and we watched movies and seriously ate so much! 'Twas a great Thanksgiving.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving too!
