is it summer yet?

This has been a really odd school year. I love my job. I love my kids. I love my coworkers... But I'm totally ready for summer!

One of my students was celebrating his birthday a few weeks ago. He was super excited all week and kept on telling me that he had a surprise for me. I was confused but whatever, first graders say crazy things all the time. His actual birthday rolls around and as I'm dismissing, he says "Surprise, Mrs. Park! Gary's here!" Yup. He brought Gary Payton to school.  Strange year, I tell you.

It totes doesn't help that I work with some crazy people!

But seriously, I love my coworkers! We are quite an ODD bunch, don't you think! Har. Har.

STAR testing is done! There's only 10 more days of school! What does that mean?! It means we jump for joy! We love to jump! :)

jumpin' for joy

We teachers are super excited and jumpin' for joy because winter break has started! I'm so excited I'm Gangnam stylin' and supporting my fellow Korean.

At work, as usual, I got the craziest gift from my sweet kids and it was a fun day of pj wearing, Gingerbread Man hunting, winter crafting, big buddy movie watching, and of course jumping with my coworkers! But the real excitement was when my Johnny got home from work and surprised me with a new phone!

I finally upgraded from an old school slide phone to a shnazzy iphone 4s! What a great surprise. Especially after we said no gifts this year! So now I'm just having so much fun with my new smart phone. I'm addicted! John had to literally pry it out of my hands to give me a break from it.

And of course, I jumped on the instagram bandwagon but I'm still trying to figure it out. (Follow me here!)  I am having tons of fun taking pictures of random things, especially of my new (old) deer!

It's going to be a great winter break, I can feel like! Praise God for an amazingly thoughtful husband, super fun coworks, and a great job that gives me 2 weeks off. I have so much to be thankful for I should jump for joy everyday!

'tis the season to rock ugly sweaters

DSC_0365

'Tis the season for us to rock our ugly Christmas sweaters! Good times, yet again, here in teacherland.

The thrift store sweaters weren't "ugly" enough so I borrowed an ugly sweater(vest) from my coworker. She did an amazing job picking out the weirdest looking thing ever. She was right when she said "you can't go wrong with frogs on a vest". My kids LOVED the frogs in Santa hats and they would not stop touching the patchwork or the fluff balls attached. I'm glad my kids liked it but it did get pretty awkward when a parent complimented the vest and asked where I got it. Yikes!

Tomorrow we are all rockin' our pj's and enjoying the last school day of 2012! Excited!

happy halloween!

Our school has been enduring a year of noisy, dusty, inconveniencing construction. The new building was set to open in August for the upper graders and guess what?! That never happened. There is still no set move in date.  It was August, then September, then October, and now... everyone just waits.  The upper grade teachers have been so patient and amazing. I would NOT be a happy camper if I had to teach with stacked boxes all over my room!

With that said, you'll understand why all teachers decided to dress up like construction workers!  Cheapest costume ever!

We had a photo sesh in my class before the morning bell rang.  Here are few photos with the most amazing 2 coworkers (they totally keep me sane), and my hilarious student teacher.

Be safe everyone!  John and I will be doing what we do every Halloween - turn off all the lights and hide from the trick-or-treaters! Puhahah!  Happy Halloween!

bridal showerin' in the classroom

In the last 6 years of teaching, I've taught at 4 different schools. Straight up crazzzzy. The upside of that is that I get to meet amazing teachers and they become amazing friends. This week, I went back to the first school I worked at, Kit Carson Elementary, to celebrate Ms. Chai.

You won't believe that this shower was held in a classroom. You can spy some classroom things and it totally added to the cuteness of the shower.

jars
Mason jars from my wedding. I love that my wedding things are being used again in the celebration of another couple's love. Alison used some of my wedding things too! It's so fun to see how each bride puts their own special twist on it. Its the same item but it looks so different (i.e., comparing my wedding and my sisters). But I'll save that for another entry.

Back to Esther!
